Restoring Claude Model Access

Unicorne and Pax8 Ensure Business Continuity

Unicorne and Pax8 were stronger together when it came to securing Claude’s 4.5 model for SMBs using Amazon Bedrock.

Canadian small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) rely on Unicorne’s deep expertise in AWS services and cloud architecture to modernize their operations. But when its clients lost access to Anthropic’s Claude 4.5 model through Amazon Bedrock, many felt the impact — especially healthcare-based Plume AI.

“Any time a model change happens, it creates a lot of chaos, especially with medical applications, where you want a strict, predictive outcome,” said Benoit Maheux, VP of Growth at Unicorne.

Unicorne needed a strategic partner that could help persuade a trillion-dollar company.

How Pax8 Helped

Unicorne didn’t want to shift its clients to a new model because it would have been detrimental to their clients’ business outcomes, so instead the team made the call to Pax8.

“We knew we had to have a big brother in the room to help advocate in our corner,” Maheux said.

Pax8 immediately recognized how many SMBs would be affected by Anthropic’s decision. The leadership knew they had to engage quickly and directly with the AI company.

“We were able to pack all of the opportunity, bring visibility to Anthropic to what they were actually closing their door on,” Maheux said. “And thanks to Pax8, they were able to turn things back in our favor.”

Unicorne expected months of back and forth, but that’s not what happened. “In a matter of days, the table was flipped,” Maheux said. Given Unicorne’s strong background in AWS, Anthropic agreed to provide Claude’s 4.5 model to SMBs working through the Pax8 Marketplace, with AWS accounts enabled via Amazon Bedrock. The resolution required no technical rewiring. It was more like flipping a switch back on.

Outcomes and Results

With access restored, Unicorne’s clients picked up right where they left off. For Plume AI, the relief was immediate. Healthcare professionals returned to AI-assisted documentation and automated triage call centers came back online.

“Those healthcare professionals go back to doing what they want to be doing — making a difference for patients instead of doing paperwork,” Maheux said.

By securing Anthropic’s Claude 4.5 model, Pax8 permanently changed the equation for SMBs building on AWS. And through strong advocacy for their clients, Unicorne has guaranteed stable access for many years to come. This gives Unicorne and their clients the ability to test incrementally and scale confidently as AI evolves.

“I’m a strong believer that together, we’re stronger,” Maheux said. “And we picked Pax8 because we knew they would be proactive.”

“We’re very much leveraging Pax8 to get access to new markets and new connections.”
